Marinobacter is a genus of Proteobacteria found in sea water. A number of strains and species can degrade hydrocarbons; M. alkaliphilus, M. aquaeolei, M. arcticus, M. hydrocarbonoclasticus, M. maritimus & M. squalenivorans[1].
