Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III was born on 11 November 1932 in Ghana as John Kwame Amofa Appiah.
He studied Public Administration in Pennsylvania. In 1955 he became Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III, King of Denkyira.
In 1999 he was elected President of the National House of Chiefs.[1]
The year 2005, in Jukwa and in Dunkwa-on-Offin, marked his Golden Jubilee.
He is currently living in Accra due to short illness.
He was good friends with the late James Yaw Buadi whom he appointed as a local Chief to rule three local areas in Dunkwa (Aggrey road, Kromanti and Broomasi).
