Neil Smith (writer)

Neil Smith is a Canadian short story writer. A three-time nominee for the Journey Prize and winner of an honourable mention at the National Magazine Awards, Smith published his debut collection, Bang Crunch, with Knopf Canada in 2007. His work has also been published in The Malahat Review, The New Quarterly, The Fiddlehead and Maisonneuve.

Bang Crunch was named the winner of the McAuslan First Book Prize at the 2007 Quebec Writers' Federation literary awards, and a French translation by Lori Saint-Martin and Paul Gagné won the QWF Translation Prize at the 2008 awards.

Smith, who is gay, lives in Montreal with his partner, Christian Dorais.[1] He also works as a translator.[2]
