Early life

Chavez was raised in Arvada, Colorado the son of Betty, a scientist, and Nicholas Sr., a Human Resources manager. He has a younger brother,

Kristopher with whom he currently pursues a number of business interests in the entertainment industry.

At the age of 5, Nicholas “the orator” first presented himself by “willingly and openly speaking publicly in front of large crowds” [Colorado Company,

“RFID”, Candy Campbell (Jul/Aug, 2006)] . By the age of 15 Chavez started his own consulting company, and by 17 Packard Bell, IBM and Lucent had hired Nicholas [Op Cit Ibid] .

Career

Chavez started “trailblazing” as Entrepreneur Magazine refers to his career at the age of 15, when he started his own computer consulting company. Between 1998 and 2000, Chavez designed and implemented technical systems for Raytheon, and ERP systems first for Vicorp and Royal Dutch Shell. Chavez then took an executive position with Accenture in 2001 to serve (among other stations) as the Chief Technical Architect for CPGMarket, a B2B brokerage system which streamlined the supply chain of consumer packaged goods from European companies such as Coca-Cola and Groupe Danone. Chavez designed a similar system while employed by Fujitsu for intended implementation at Caterpillar Inc. and Dell Inc.

In 2004, Chavez set out on his own to invent and co-found RideOnTime.com, an online mapping and booking system for taxi and limosuine service. Chavez sold 84% of RideOnTime in 2005, and still retains and eleven-percent stake.

In 2005, Chavez became Chairman and president of RFID, LTD. by reverse merging his privately held company Packaged RFID, Inc. into a publicly traded company established in 1985 as Continental Capital Corporation. The aim of RFID, LTD. was to target the needs of specific niche markets associated with the Radio Frequency identification field through resale of established technologies to suppliers of the United States Department of Defense and Wal-Mart.

However, RFID, LTD. was never able to convert any sales under Chavez's leadership, due in large part to the high cost of RFID implementation. Ultimately, in November 2007, the company announced it was "close to insolvency." [ [http://www.managingautomation.com/maonline/news/read/RFID_Ltd_Close_to_Insolvency_31163 RFID Ltd. Close to Insolvency on Managing Automation ] ] Though, as of March 2008 the company has not filed for bankruptcy and has not indicated an intent to do so.

Before it's downfall, RFID, LTD. had a market cap near $90 million.

January 2008 marked the cessation of all formal association with RFID, LTD. and the technology industry for Chavez. As of March 2008, Chavez is executive producing albums for three musicians and directing a film entitled "Passing Buck".
