Cain Hoy Stable was a
Thoroughbred racing stable andhorse breeding operation with training facilities inColumbia, South Carolina andKissimmee, Florida . It was owned by Harry Guggenheim who also raced horses inEurope . A founding member of theNew York Racing Association , Guggenheim began racing in 1929 and originally raced as the Falaise Stable, the name of hisLong Island, New York estate. In 1943 he renamed it the Cain Hoy Stable for his Cain Hoy Plantation, a fifteen thousand-acre timber and cattle plantation near Wando,South Carolina .In 1959, Cain Hoy Stable led all American owners in earnings.

One-Eyed King , and Dead Ahead. Cain Hoy was part of a 1959 breeding syndicate that purchasedBelmont Stakes winner, Cavan. The stable won numerous importantgraded stakes race s including theKentucky Oaks ,Alabama Stakes , and Champagne Stakes on three occasions, and the then prestigious Belmont Futurity andWithers Stakes , twice. Cain Hoy had six horses won ran in theKentucky Derby . They won the 1953 edition with Dark Star, handing the future Hall of FamerNative Dancer the only defeat of his career. Their next best Derby finish came in 1963 whenNever Bend finished second.Cain Hoy bred and raced Ack Ack, the 1971 Horse of the Year and a U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee. The stable also bred American multiple stakes winner
Bold Reason as well as thefilly San San who was sold to Countess Margit Batthyany in France and who won the 1972Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe .Other successful horses included:
