Christian Freeling (or Christiaan Freeling) (born 1 February 1947, Enschede) is a Dutch game designer and inventor of various chess variants, notably Grand chess, invented in 1984.[1] Other game inventions by Freeling include:
- Havannah (a connection game played on a hexagonal board)

- The Glass Bead Game (late 1970s; a mancala variant)
- Hexdame (1979; draughts for a hexagonal board)
