Timeline of 16th century conversion of Hindu clans to Islam

Sudhan-A lot of Sudhans are of the opinion that they are descendants of Hindus. Research on this subject was conducted by Col. Dr. Khalil, a Sudhan who lived in Rawalpindi. There are a lot of Hindus and Sikhs who are members of the Sudhan tribe, most of these live in Kashmir. According to Dr. Khalil Sudhans were converted to Islam by Auranzeb [http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/routledg/raaf/2005/00000036/00000001/art00003]

Mian-Quote -"...In the case of Kashtwar , the rulers of which were Muhammadan from the time of Aurangzeb. They still , however retained their Hindu names and customs , and to the present day their descendants are called Mian . The rulers of Aknur and Rihasi belonging to branches of the Jammu family seem also to have embraced Islam ...." .." Meo- Like most Indian Muslims, the Meos were originally Hindu; when and how their conversion to Islam came about is unclear. It seems probable they were converted in stages: first by Salar Masud in the eleventh century, by Balban in the thirteenth century, and then during Aurangzeb's rule in the seventeenth century.

Bhat :cquote|In Hisar they date their conversion to Alamgir s reign , and still continuse to minister to Mahajans and other Hindu as well to Mughals and Pirzadas , but Shaikhs only fee them at a daughters wedding , as do also oilmen and weavers who give them 8 annas . But they get fees on the birthof a son . In Rohtak they have only three sections , Bijhan , Sil Saha and Gur Deva , of whom the latter recite genealogies and compose songs .

Their patrons are Muhammadan Rajputs and Hindu Mahajans , [ A glossary of the tribes and castes of the Punjab and North -West provinces , compiled by H A Rose vol II Page 98 ]
