Kojima was born in
Gramado ,Rio Grande do Sul ,Brazil as the eldest son to Japanese-born parents.After graduating with his bachelor's degree in
computer science fromUFRGS , he began to work atConectiva where he wrote the first version ofSynaptic , apackage manager and, in collaboration with Claudio Matsuoka wrote aRPM backend for APT — previously, the APT suite was available only forDebian 's DEB/dpkg format.As of March, 2006, he works for
MySQL as aGUI developer where he wrote theLinux andMac OS X versions ofMySQL Administrator ,MySQL Workbench andMySQL Query Browser .Kojima lives in
