Wiltshire operates a short section of the oldMidland and South Western Junction Railway line betweenSwindon andCricklade .Overview
At the present time 2007 a southward extension, now being built, will bring the line into the western outskirts of Swindon in Mouldon Hill Country Park. A further extension is being built beyond Hayes Knoll to South Meadow Lane which will give the line an additional half mile towards
Cricklade .The Swindon & Cricklade Railway is one of the few British heritage railways to undertake complete reconstruction without an inheritance of track and buildings from British Rail. It began operations in the late 1970s at
Blunsdon railway station , and has since extended toHayes Knoll .Locomotives
