Maryland . Franklin Square is the third largest hospital in Maryland. Employing more than 2,800 employees, Franklin Square is one of the largest employers in Baltimore County. Franklin Square Hospital Center is a member ofMedStar Health .The building is found along Franklin Square Drive, next to the campus of
Essex Community College , and is used as a training ground for students ofAllied Health programs at the college.Franklin Square can be reached from
Baltimore Beltway exits 32 (Belair Road) or 34 (Philadelphia Road) by turning of Rossville Boulevard to Franklin Square Drive. Public transportation is available to the hospital. It is accessible on bus line nos. 4, 24, 35, and 55, operated by theMaryland Transit Administration .History
In 1898 Franklin Square opened with just 20 beds. It was the first hospital to open in the community of West Baltimore. In 1969 the hospital moved to the eastern Baltimore County in a new 325-bed facility. The Emergency Department treats a daily average of 300 patients making it the busiest E.R. in the state of Maryland. [cite web
