The Lumbriculidae are a family of microdrile oligochaetes common in fresh-water environments, including streams, lakes, marshes, wells and ground-water. They should not be confused with the earthworm family Lumbricidae. Many species and even genera are highly endemic, mainly in Siberia and the western parts of North America.

The family currently contains the following genera and species:
*Bichaeta (one species)::"Bichaeta sanguinea"
*Cookidrilus (one species)::"Cookidrilus speluncaeus"
*Eclipidrilus (eight species):Subgenus "Eclipidrilus"::"Eclipidrilus frigidus"::"Eclipidrilus asymmetricus"::"Eclipidrilus ithys":Subgenus "Leptodrilus"::"Eclipidrilus fontanus"::"Eclipidrilus lacustris":Subgenus "Premnodrilus" ::"Eclipidrilus daneus"::"Eclipidrilus palustris":Insertia sedis::"Eclipidrils pacificus" - this species reportedly exists in three "variants".
*Eremidrilus (five species)::"Eremidrilus allegheniensis"::"Eremidrilus coyote"::"Eremidrilus elegans"::"Eremidrilus felini"::"Eremidrilus ritocsi"
*Eumuliercula (two species)::"Eumuliercula casta"::"Eumuliercula emendata"
*Guestphalinus (one species)::"Guestphalinus wiardi"
*Hrabea (one species)::"Hrabea ogumai"
*Kincaidiana (two species)::"Kincaidiana hexatheca"::"Kincaidiana freidris"
*Lamprodrilus (twenty-four species):Subgenus "Lamprodrilus"::"Lamprodrilus achaetus"::"Lamprodrilus ammophagus"::"Lamprodrilus bulbosus"::"Lamprodrilus wagneri"::"Lamprodrilus mrazeki"::"Lamprodrilus nigrescens"::"Lamprodrilus pygmaeus" with five subspecies:::"Lamprodrilus pygmaeus pygmaeus":::"Lamprodrilus pygmaeus glandulosus":::"Lamprodrilus pygmaeus ochridanus":::"Lamprodrilus pygmaeus intermedius":::"Lamprodrilus pygmaeus sulcatus"::"Lamprodrilus isoporus" with two subspecies:::"Lamprodrilus isoporus isoporus":::"Lamprodrilus isoporus varliabilis"::"Lamprodrilus michaelseni"::"Lamprodrilus bythius"::"Lamprodrilus satyriscus" with four subspecies:::"Lamprodrilus satyriscus satyriscus":::"Lamprodrilus satyriscus dithecus":::"Lamprodrilus satyriscus tetrathecus":::"Lamprodrilus satyriscus decathecus"::"Lamprodrilus melanotus"::"Lamprodrilus pallidus"::"Lamprodrilus dybowskyi"::"Lamprodrilus inflatus"::"Lamprodrilus issossimovi"::"Lamprodrilus jamburaensis"::"Lamprodrilus novikovae"::"Lamprodrilus polytoreutus"::"Lamprodrilus secernus"::"Lamprodrilus semenkewitschi"::"Lamprodrilus stigmatias"::"Lamprodrilus tolli"::"Laprodrilus vermivorus":Subgenus "Teleuscolex"::"Lamprodrilus baicalensis"::"Lamprodrilus grubei"::"Lamprodrilus korotneffi"::"Lamprodrilus glaber"
*Lamprortus (one species)::"Lamprortus orientalis"

The old genus "Thinodrilus" is presently considered to be a part of "Lumbriculus", but may have subgeneric status. If so, it contains (at least) the species "L. ambiguus", "L. inconstans" and "L. genitosetosus". The status of many of the "Lumbriculus" species listed above is uncertain.
