Located in scenic Signal Mountain, Tennessee, Signal Mountain Middle School, is a somewhat old school. More than 300 students are currently enrolled.SMMS has high standards for both academic and behavioral performance, and it has a local reputation for having well-behaved students. The school believes that its strict dress code plays at least a partial contribution to this, although with the addition of the hoodie to the 2006-2007 dress code, many students disobey the shirt part of the code. The school also has a band program led by Robert Cirlot. The band has two annual concerts, and a sometimes a third one. One of the annual concerts is a Christmas concer at the Tivoli, an auditorium in downtown Chattanooga, and the second is a spring concert on the lawn of the school. Sometimes, the band is invited to play at Disneyworld in Florida, because of their superb Christmas concert. The Chorus is also venturing to Disney wolrd this spring.
