Rydal is in
Bartow County, Georgia ,USA also as known as Pine Log, Georgia. It is thirteen miles north ofCartersville .This still predominantly rural area is unincorporated and includes the historic town of Pine Log. The Pine Log post office was closed in the 1970s and the town and the surrounding area is now frequently referred to as Rydal. In 2000 the population of the greater Rydal area was 2,960. Several historic churches, homes and the Pine Log Elementary School still remain in the community. The community has experienced growth from the continuing outgrowth of Atlanta. Population has risen in the past years and since the 1990s several subdivisions and factories have been built in the area.Community and Surrounding Areas
Rydal is conveniently located near Adairsville and Cartersville with quick access to interstate 75. The location of Rydal offers opportunities for residents to quickly reach Atlanta, Rome, and Chattanooga for employment. A slight increase has occurred recently with young families moving into the area. Property values are on the rise and it is predicted that the area will experience an ovehaul as many long time residents sell out to make room for subdivisions, commercial space, and parks.
Pine Log Methodist Church
The church was built in ca. 1834 on former
Cherokee land by followingTrail of Tears that is placed on one of U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The founder and pastor of this church was Reverend Stephen Ellis (1784-1862) who moved from South Carolina before theAmerican Civil War started in1861 . Other buildings around the church as campgrounds, cemetery, and exterior church (which was built before theair conditioner ) was invented.External links
