Richard B. Wright, CM, (born
March 4 ,1937 ) is a Canadian novelist.Born in Midland,
Ontario , Wright attendedTrent University , from which he graduated in 1970. He is the author of 11 published novels and two children's books. Many of his older novels were out of print, but were republished after his novel "Clara Callan" (2001) won three of Canada's major literary awards in 2001: theGiller Prize ; theTrillium Book Award ; and theGovernor General's Award .In 2006, Wright was granted an honorary
Doctor of Letters by Trent University and in 2007, made a member of theOrder of Canada [cite web|title=Governor General Announces New Appointments to the Order of Canada|work=Governor General of Canada|url=http://www.gg.ca/media/doc.asp?lang=e&DocID=5252] .He currently lives in St. Catharines, Ontario.
