Atlas Computer Laboratory

Atlas Computer Laboratory

The Atlas Computer Laboratory at Harwell Laboratory was the site of one of two examples of the Manchester Atlas computer. It became part of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in 1975. It was one of the major computer laboratories in the world and was established to provide a service to British scientists at a time when powerful computers were not usually available.
