Sir John Astley, 2nd Baronet

Sir John Astley, 2nd Baronet (1687 – 29 January 1772) was a longtime British politician.

The son of Sir Richard Astley, 1st Baronet and Henrietta Borlase, he was baptised in Patshull in Staffordshire on 24 January 1687. Already one year later, he succeeded to his father's baronetcy. Astley was Member of Parliament (MP) for Shrewsbury from 1727 and 1734 and for Shropshire from 1734 to 1772. With his death his title became extinct.

On 27 May 1711, he married Mary Prynce, daughter of Francis Prynce in Tibberton in Shropshire. They had five children, four daughters and one son.
