The holy monastery of [http://odysseus.culture.gr/h/2/eh251.jsp?obj_id=1554 Osiou Gregoriou] on Mount Athos was the place where he started his monastic struggle in May of 1987. There he was invested with the Great Schema in 1990. Three years later, Metropolitan Alexios of Trikke of the Greek Orthodox Church ordained him into deaconate. In August of 1995, Bishop Kalinik of Arges and Muscel of the Romanian Orthodox Church ordained him a priest. His consecration as Bishop of the Macedonian Orthodox Church took place on 28 August, 1995. The following day, 29 August, the Holy Synod of Hierarchs of the Macedonian Orthodox Church enthroned him as Bishop of the Strumica Diocese, with the title of Metropolitan of Strumica. From then on, in his Diocese, he has worked to renew church life, monasticism in particular. He has revived the publishing and humanitarian church activities.

Nahum has translated from their Greek original the books (titles as in the Macedonian edition): "On Spirit and Life" by Elder Sophrony (Sakharov), "From Mask to Person" by Metropolitan John D. Zizioulas of Pergamon, "Introduction into Monastic Life" by Elder Paisius, "Hesychastic Testimonies" by Elder Joseph the Spilaioti, and "Counsels on the Jesus Prayer" by Elder Ephraim of Philotheou, and has assisted in the Macedonian translation of many other books.

"Homily from Eleusa", "Homily from Vodoča", and "A School of Hesychasm" are the three books published so far by Metropolitan Nahum of Strumica. They contain his pastoral epistles, letters, homilies, interviews, and ascetical and hesychastic essays. The Orthodox periodical "Premin" (Passover), published for seven years now, is also a fruit of his initiative and personal commitment, as well as the creation and functioning of the official website of the Macedonian Orthodox Church: [http://www.mpc.org.mk www.mpc.org.mk]
