Russ Altman

Russ Biagio Altman, MD, PhD, is a professor at Stanford University Medical School, where he is chair of the department of [http://bioengineering.stanford.edu Bioengineering] and director of the program in [http://bmi.stanford.edu Biomedical Informatics] . He is a past president and one of the founding members of the [http://www.iscb.org International Society for Computational Biology] .

He is also an attending physician in Menlo Park, California, and is the principal investigator for the PharmGKB knowledgebase [cite news |title=PharmGKB: The Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics Knowledge Base|url=http://www.pharmgkb.org |accessdate=2007-09-06] .

In February 2006, Dr. Altman gave a presentation at Google, in which he explained the opportunities for pharmacogenomics [cite news |title=Opportunities For Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine|url=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5976890974902036286 |accessdate=2007-09-06] .
