Shirin R. Tahir-Kheli is, as of 2008, the senior advisor to the

Johns Hopkins University Foreign Policy Institute at thePaul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies , inWashington, DC , where she was the founding Director of the South Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Institute. Tahir-Kheli was an alternate United States representative to theUnited Nations for Special Political Affairs serving from 1990 to 1993. She also served as Director of Political Military Affairs and then as Director of Near East and South Asian Affairs from 1984 to 1989 with the National Security Council staff. From1982 to1984 , Tahir-Kheli was a member of the Policy Planning Staff at theDepartment of State .Ambassador Tahir-Kheli has an M.A. and a
Ph.D. in International Relations from theUniversity of Pennsylvania and a B.A. fromOhio Wesleyan University . She is a member of theCouncil on Foreign Relations and theInternational Institute for Strategic Studies .Ambassador Tahir-Kheli is the daughter of the famous scientist, scholar and educationist of Pakistan Dr. Muhammad Raziuddin Siddiqui whose migrated to Pakistan from
