It, like the film, is not too well known and where, as has happened over the course of his career, he has done a score for an arguably average movie (either through story or direction) he has gained a reputation, rare among film composers, for always being able to consistently produce something original and do it well; this score, whilst forgotten among his first and most obscure works in a resumé of critically acclaimed master works, is an example of this. This score required, contrary to most of the rest of his varied work, a good deal of romance as the story of the film is a tragic love story but; more love than tragedy, he has only ever done pure romance music sparsely and tends towards more cerebral and dark motifs. There is also the tragedy which he is more suited to, on the track "Motel Street Meltdown" he does some vocals but not signing (as he has done before) but shouting, angrily, random phrases and words related to the main male lead character as he descends into "meltdown".
