Notable Products

Wand

The Nyko "Wand" is a 3rd-party replacement for the Wii Remote. It was announced at CES 2009. The Wand features Trans-Port technology, which allows specially designed attachments to pass through key buttons to the attachment, allowing for more responsive attachments. It was chosen for CNET’s “Best of CES” award in the gaming category.[2] Older models are not compatible with WiiMotionPlus but can be sent to Nyko for a firmware update free of charge.

Wand+

At CES 2010, Nyko unveiled the Nyko Wand+. It's a new member of the Wand family and it adds their full motion technology. It's essentially a Wii Remote with the Wii Motion plus built-in, without any additional dongles.

Kama

The Kama is a wireless Nunchuk accessory created for the Wii video game console created by Nyko. Like the original Nunchuk, the Kama features an analog control stick, and "Z" and "C" buttons. Unlike the original Nunchuk, the Kama uses 2 AAA batteries and an adapter dongle that plugs into the back of the Wii Remote.[3]

Charge Station

The Charge Station for Wii is a rechargeable battery set and charging stand that allows Wii players to replace the Alkaline AA batteries with a rechargeable NiMH battery pack. The product is the worlds top selling rechargeable battery solution for Wii, and has spawned numerous knockoffs and copies since its release. Nyko also offers Charge Station rechargeable battery solutions for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 gaming consoles

WormCam

The WormCam is a digital camera attachment for the Gameboy Advance.

Zoom for Kinect

This is an attachment to Xbox 360's Kinect device. This device zooms in the kinect camera reducing the space requirement by 40%. It does not require any power or complex installation. The device was unveiled at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011. [4][5][6] It is scheduled to be released on September 13, 2011.[7]

Criticism

Microsoft has found that the Nyko Intercooler 360 for the Xbox 360 draws the necessary power from the console to power the whole unit. This may lead to hardware failure, or the unit may burn. Users across various forums have reported that the Intercooler damaged their consoles beyond repair. Microsoft recommends against using unlicensed accessories such as the Intercooler.[8][9] Nyko has since produced a new form of Intercooler which can be exchanged for free via customer service. The company has also provided new consoles to all the users who reported damage to their console.

Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against Nyko for their wireless nunchuk controller for the Wii, claiming the Nyko Kama Nunchuk "wholly appropriates the novel shape, design, overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo Nunchuk controller.[10] The lawsuit is now settled, after a redesign of the Kama.[11]
