R639 road

The R639 is one of Ireland's regional roads which was classified following the opening of a by-passed National Primary route.

By-passed sections of the old N8 are reclassified R639 as soon a new section of M8 is opened. Eventually the R639 will stretch from Port Laoise to Cork.

Route (sections)

(As of July 2008)
* From the N8 northeast of Cashel in County Tipperary to the N8 north of Mitchelstown through New Inn, south to Cahir and on to Skeheenarinky before entering County Limerick and passing through the village of Kilbeheny.
* From the N8 north of Fermoy through Fermoy, Rathcormack, Watergrasshill, Sallybrook and Glanmire, terminating at the N8 "Glanmire Road".
