Lou "Luigi Piccolo" Little (1893,
Leominster, Massachusetts -May 28 1978 ,Delray Beach, Florida ) was an American football coach.Coaching career
He was the head coach at
Columbia University from 1930-1956. He was probably best known for two wins: the Rose Bowl in 1934 when Columbia beatStanford 7-0; and the win over Army in 1947 in which the Columbia Lions beat the Cadets by 21-20. At that time, Army had enjoyed a lengthy winning streak. Probably one of the most famous Columbia players that he coached wasSid Luckman . In addition to this, he also benched writerJack Kerouac when he broke his leg while playing for Columbia in 1940. Little, who graduated fromWorcester Academy , playedcollege football at theUniversity of Pennsylvania . He died atDelray Beach, Florida onMay 28 ,1978 .ee also
