census GR|2 of 2000, there were 583 people, 238 households, and 168 families residing in the county. Thepopulation density was 1 people per square mile (0.32/km²). There were 333 housing units at an average density of 0 per square mile (0/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 98.97% White, 0.51% Native American, and 0.51% from two or more races. 0.17% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 45.1% were of German, 12.2% English, 10.2% Irish and 8.4% American ancestry according toCensus 2000 .There were 238 households out of which 30.30% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.00% were married couples living together, 2.50% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.00% were non-families. 26.90% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.98.
