National Division Three South is the fourth level of domestic
rugby union competition inEngland .The league consists of fourteen semi-professional teams from aroundSouthern England . Each season is contested on a home and away basis, with each club playing 26 fixtures.Promotion and relegation affect the makeup of the league each season, with the top team automatically promoted to
National Division Two , and the runner-up playing a one-off play-off with the runner-up ofNational Division Three North for promotion. The bottom three teams are usually relegated into eitherLondon Division One orSouth West Division One , but occasionally Midlands 1 if there is a regional imbalance.Participating Teams 2008-09
