*"tate" ("portrait format") in video games is a mode in which the game is presented in 3:4 vertical orientation, rotated 90 degrees from a television's normal 4:3 orientation. Tate is most often found in console ports of arcade vertical scrolling shooters, where the screen in the original arcade machine is oriented vertically.
* Tate (agency), an international employment agency, based in the UK
* Tate (computer programming) is a word that indicates a combination of a date and a time (and a time zone if the context is ambiguous). It is used in variable names, field labels, and so on, to disambiguate just a date or just a time from a value that holds both a date and time. For example, "2008-03-13" is a "date", "12:13:14" is a "time", and "2008-03-13 12:13:14Z" is a "tate". The term "tark" is a synonym, derived from "time mark".
