Elliot Bevan is a fictional character in the long-running British Channel 4 television soap opera "Hollyoaks".

He is played by actor Garnon Davies.

Character history

Elliot was shy but underneath his glasses and knit cap he carried deep passions for life on other planets, and for a series of attractive women who initially seemed unavailable to him.

Elliot made many references to science which the other characters rarely understood such as when Steph asked if they could be friends again and he said "I would rather stand on the surface of Venus".

After Will's spiral into madness, Elliot moved into his room at Student Halls. He presently shares space with Kris Fisher and Zak Ramsey.

UFOs

Elliot first appeared in January 2007 as a radio caller who rang up Kris to tell him about his views on UFOs. When Kris refused to believe in such things Elliot came down to the student radio station studio to show him many documentations of Alien sightings. Although Kris still refused to believe him, Kris's flat mate Jessica Harris decided to write down Elliot's theories for the College newspaper. Elliot developed a major crush on Jessica and on numerous occasions tried to persuade her to go out with him.

teph Dean

In March 2007, Elliot tried to stand up for Steph Dean when she was accosted by Wayne Tunnicliffe and Sonny Valentine. Steph told him she didn't need any help. Later that day, Wayne threw eggs at Elliot until Steph stepped in. While his clothes were being cleaned, he talked with her about aliens and wanted to see her again. Elliot got along with Steph and they went stargazing together. Steph thought he was interested in her romantically, but he told her that was definitely not true. After learning she had to do a good deed to inherit an item from her aunt, Steph agreed to help Elliot with his rocketry collection. After getting both Steph and Darren Osborne to help, his rocket blasted nowhere after they both broke it and tried to fix it with bubblegum.

Diary

Elliot's privacy was invaded in spring 2007 when his new flatmate Jess found his diary in the village. Jess began writing entries from the diary into the College newspaper, and when Elliot found out, he tried to buy all the newspapers off the shelves so nobody would read what Jessica had put. Unfortunately, a lot of people did read it and Elliot, with the help of Zak, retrieved his diary from Jess.

Arranged marriage

In August 2007, Elliot learned his mother had arranged a marriage for him back in Wales, to someone he doesn't love. Steph planned to go back to Wales with him and pretend to be his girlfriend. This arrangement is off when Elliot told Steph that her outfit choice was unsuitable for meeting his mother, as she looked like a "prostitute". Later in the same episode, Steph agreed to help again.

When his mother turned up things didn't go as planned, and she still expected him to marry Rhiannon. He finally stood up to his mother and she left the village; when he tried to hug her she just shrugged him off and got in her taxi. Elliot amicably ended things with Rhiannon, who was no more interested in him than he was in her.

Pirate radio station

Elliot was absent for the beginning of the 2007 autumn term at Hollyoaks Community College; Jess explained that he was in Nevada, and rented his room to John Paul McQueen.

Elliot returned in the week beginning 5 November 2007 and discovered that John Paul was renting his room and that Jess had broken some of his belongings. In protest, he locked himself in Jessica's room for hours and hours until he had to go to the bathroom.

Elliot became friends with John Paul, and when John Paul was offended by Kris' radio advice to a sexually confused teenager, he called in, only to be personally attacked by Kris. Elliot and John Paul went to the station to confront Kris, but a blackout stopped them. After Elliot and John Paul got drunk, Elliot suggested they start their own pirate radio station. Disguising their voices, they repeatedly interrupted Kris' broadcasts to make fun of him and talk about their own topics, which drove Kris insane. When Elliot returned from his holiday break, he was in bad spirits due to his mother being in the hospital with emphysema. He became more invested in the pirate radio station, telling John Paul that was the only time anyone ever paid attention to him, even if no one knew he was the voice on the radio. Against John Paul's judgment, they had one final broadcast. Soon after, Kris began taunting Elliot in the Dog and Elliot nearly told Kris the truth until John Paul, to protect Elliot from ruining his academic career, took the credit.

arah

Elliot became infatuated with Sarah Barnes. He won a pool competition for a date with her, but the date turned out to be a publicity stunt attended by a reporter who teased him about his appearance. Elliot continued to pine away for Sarah, but she only saw him as a friend. Meanwhile, Elliot befriended his physics lecturer, Roger Kiddle. He allowed Roger to sleep in his room when he wasn't around, as Roger needed a nearby place to rest. He had no idea Roger was interested in bedding Sarah, a feeling soon made mutual. He was rudely awakened to this fact when he caught them in his bed.

Father

Elliot's father, an astronomer, had abandoned the family in 1998. Elliot believed his father had been taken by a UFO. When he brushed off helping Lauren Valentine and her friend Newt with their studies, and then gave them a curt response when they confronted him, Lauren (who had overheard him talking about his dad) decided to pay him back. She impersonated Elliot's father via computer, saying he'd been with aliens and was returning to visit Elliot. Elliot went to the woods at night and began calling for his father. Newt and Lauren ran off. Elliot, already reeling from what he had just seen in his bedroom, crumpled to the ground, a broken man.

The new Elliot

On the 8 April 2008, Elliot was found by Kris in a hospital, suffering from hypothermia. Elliot's mother finally confessed that Elliot's dad had left them and not been abducted, cruelly robbing Elliot of everything he had ever believed in. He changed his image and became a stronger person, righting the wrongs people had inflicted upon him in the past, starting with Newt and Lauren. Elliot also threatened to report Sarah and Roger to the dean.

Elliot still felt unhappy even with his new look, and sold his comics to buy "normal" clothes; he ended up in a duplicate of Zak's outfit. Ultimately, Elliot realised he was happier as himself, went back to his old style, and made up with Sarah.

He dated Sarah for a month but dumped her as the had little in common.He has now fell for Hannah Ashworth
