Lapointe has a college diploma in
health sciences from the CEGEP Ahuntsic. She also went at theUniversité de Montréal and receive abachelor's degree inbusiness administration . Before her election, she managed and owned aProvigo grocery store and was responsible for the accountancy of it. She also worked for the Association des détaillants en alimentation du Québec (Quebec food retailers association) as a treasurer, for the Boisbriand Economic Development Committee and for Emploi-Quebec. She was also a candidate in the Boisbriand Municipal in 2005.Provincial Legislature
Lapointe was first elected to the
National Assembly of Quebec in the 2007 election. At one point, she had considered running for the Liberals, but eventually joined the ADQ. Liberalincumbent Pierre Descoteaux , finished third with 27% of the vote. Lapointe took office on April 12, 2007 and was named the critic for economic development and the Montreal region until 2008.
