Bryan Stott

William Bryan Stott, known to all as Bryan, is a first class cricketer who gave sterling service to Yorkshire County Cricket Club throughout his career, which spanned from 1952 to 1963.

In 190 first class matches this solid left handed opening batsman scored 9248 runs at 31.45 with 17 centuries and a best of 186 against Warwickshire and 181 against Essex. After several years of sporadic appearances, he became a first team fixture in 1957 while his best season came in 1959, when he scored over 2000 runs for the only time and helped Yorkshire, under Ronnie Burnet, win the County Championship after a long lean spell. He took 91 catches and 7 wickets at 16 with his rarely seen medium pace, including 4 for 34 against Surrey. His time in the game was ending as one day cricket began, but he played 2 matches in the Gillette Cup in his last season, scoring 30 runs at 15.
