- Type 99 cannon
The Type 99 cannon was adaptated from the
Oerlikon FF by theImperial Japanese Navy and served as their standardaircraft autocannon duringWorld War II .Type 99 had three models according to loading methods, but two models Type 99 Model 1 (Japanese: Kyū-Kyū Shiki Ichigō Kizyū,
Kanji : 九九式一号機銃) and Type 99 Model 2 (Japanese: Kyū-Kyū Shiki Nigō Kizyū, Kanji: 九九式二号機銃) by Imperial Japanese Navy designation. The change in model to lead to a weight increase that is problematic for fighters, but the navy was concerned about the limited ammunition capacity and 60 round drum magazines became 100 round magazines, and were eventually replaced with 125 rounds of belt-feed ammo.Installations
