Russian Caravan

Russian Caravan

Russian Caravan is a blended tea whose name originates from 18th century camel caravans that facilitated the transcontinental tea trade from tea-producing areas (namely India, Ceylon and China) to Europe and Russia. Russian Caravan, however (as mentioned above), is not a Russian blend — instead, it is a Chinese blend of keemun and lapsang souchong [ [http://teatips.ru/eng/?action=ShowArticle&id=307 black tea blends. russian caravan : types of tea :: teatips.info ] ] . Russian Caravan has a distinctive smoky aroma caused by the lapsang souchong blending in, with the intent to act as a natural preservative.
