In by|1990, Lorraine was selected out of
Hart High School inNewhall, California , by theNew York Mets in the 38th round of the draft, but chose not to sign because of his family's strong belief in education.After graduating from
Stanford , where he was aPac-10 Conference All-Southern pitcher in his senior year, he was then drafted in by|1993 in the fourth round by the California Angels.In 1993, for Boise, he was 4-1 with a 1.29 ERA. In by|1994, after going 12-4 for Vancouver and being chosen as a Triple-A All-Star pitcher in the
Pacific League , he made his first appearance with the Angels at the age of 21, pitching in four games.In July by|1995, he was traded by the Angels with
Bill Simas ,John Snyder , andMcKay Christensen to the Chicago White Sox forTim Fortugno andJim Abbott .When he returned to the majors that year, pitching for the White Sox, he appeared as a reliever in five games, with a 3.38 ERA.
In January by|1996, he was traded by the White Sox with Charles Poe to the Oakland Athletics for
Danny Tartabull .He then played for the Oakland Athletics in by|1997, going 3-1 in 12 games (6 starts). In by|1998, Lorraine moved teams again, this time playing with the Seattle Mariners, for whom he had an ERA of 2.45 in four games.
After going 1-2 with Chicago in by|2000, he was released. He split the rest of the season between the AAA
Buffalo Bisons of theInternational League , where he went 8-3 with a 3.47 ERA, and their parent club, the Cleveland Indians, where he was 0-0, with an ERA of 3.86.In 2001, Lorraine signed with the Florida Marlins' AAA affiliate,
Calgary of thePacific Coast League . He pitched in 29 games (20 starts -- 1 complete game), and was 9-4 with a 5.16 ERA in 144.2 innings with Calgary; he had 98 strikeouts and only 34 walks. He then played for the Phillies' AAA affiliate, theScranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons , in the International League's playoffs.Lorraine returned to the majors in by|2002 with the Milwaukee Brewers. Lorraine finished the 2002 season with five appearances, a record of 0-1 (he got the loss in his only start) an ERA of 11.25, with ten strikeouts and six walks.
Lorraine played the by|2003 season as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization with AAA affiliate, the
Las Vegas 51s . Lorraine appeared in 30 games (started 27) and finished 8-9 with an ERA of 4.16 for the 51s -- he allowed 73 earned runs in 158.0 innings.Lorraine signed a minor league contract prior to the by|2004 season with the Minnesota Twins. In by|2005, Lorraine was a member of the Baltimore Orioles organization.
In by|2006, he pitched for the
