Masaaki Osumi (おおすみ 正秋, Old notation and his real name are 大隅 正秋, born 1934) is a Japanese Director. Born in Hyōgo,
Japan .He presided over a puppet play group, but came to deal with direction of animation after having participated in Tokyo movie (existing TMS Entertainment Ltd.) which people from puppet play played a key role and formed it.
He got high television ratings with first TV series
Moomin that paired withYasuo Otsuka , but he won displeasure of the authorTove Jansson and was made to leave in the series first half.He participated in the animation series of
Lupin III from a plan and decided setting such as each character and an arm or a car by talks with animator Yasuo Otsuka. By the comics that serialization started, the detailed setting was not yet decided. It was long-cherished TV serialization, but talks with a TV station suffering from a low audience rating break down, and he will leave it. The reason was because he refused work among lower aged audiences. The unfinished episodes (4-12) were completed by of Isao Takabata and Hayao Miyazaki who would later gain fame with Studio Ghibli.By this case, the relations with Tokyo movie became estranged from him afterward. Orders to Assassinate Lupin " broadcasted in 1993, he accepted a proposal of fence-mending from Tokyo movie, and he acted as director. The work does not seem to have gone with the result of satisfaction partly because the part which he could create was not left very much.Cowboy Bebop & Lupin III
