He was also an administrator for several associations and organisations including the union of the Union des Producteurs Agricoles (Saint-Anicet branch), the local development for the Upper Saint-Lawrence region and the Saint-Jean de Valleyfield commercial culture union.De Martin was first elected to the National Assembly in the 2007 election with 43% of the vote. Liberal
incumbent André Chenail , finished second with 31% of the vote. De Martin took office on April 12, 2007.
