The German School of San Salvador (aka. Escuela Alemana de San Salvador and Deutsche Schule San Salvador).
History
The school was founded on March 2 1965 by Julio Adalberto Rivera Carballo. On 1966 the school's first director, Mr. Julius Diesenberg, was sent from Germany. On 1967 the second campus was inaugurated in the Flor Blanca zone. In 1968 Mr. Diesenberg finishes his work in El Salvador and returns to Germany. Hannes Ihrig comes from Germany to be the school's new director. New lands are donated to the school by the Deininger family in 1970. The first phase of the construction of the new campus was financed by Germany between the years of 1970 and 1972. In March 1972, the school's first students enter middle school. In 1974 a new large area is added for middle school. In 1978: The school's first students graduate. 1978/98: Third phase of the school is designed and constructed.
The School and Germany
Though it is a private institution, the school is financially supported by Germany. The government sends faculty staff from Germany and other countries.
