Lily Butterfield is a fictional character on the ITV soap opera "Emmerdale". She is played by Anne Charleston. Lily is Edna Birch's estranged sister who first appeared in the series in November 2006.

In the show's story Lily last saw Edna in 1967, when she emigrated to Australia. It appears that Peter is not actually Edna's son, but Lily's.

Lily returned to "Emmerdale" on the 18th October 2007. After finding out about Lily's drugs, Edna evicted Lily from the house. Lily later left the village in shame on 23 January but returned several months later and made up with Edna. Lily used her love for entering magazine competitions and contests to create a pool with Pearl, Douglas Potts and Betty Eagleton where they entered as many contests as possible. Pearl won a cruise, and Lily and Betty both tried to butter her up as she pondered over which one to take. Finally, she chose Lily, but Lily's fussing over the itenerary caused Pearl's then-boyfriend, Joe Jacobs, to drop a suitcase on Lily's foot in anger. She missed the cruise, as Pearl went with Joe.

Around this time, Lily moved in with Pearl Ladderbanks and to help make ends meet, eventually took a job working as a machinist at Eric Pollard's factory. In September 2008 her son Peter returned for a surprise visit, as he was desperate for money. When he wanted her to give him tens of thousands for a stock scheme, she told him she'd already give him almost all the money she had. He told her she owed him for what she'd put him through. When she was unable to help, Peter stormed out, leaving Lily in tears.
