Ute language

The Ute language (also Southern Paiute and Colorado River), of the Numic branch of the Uto-Aztecan language family, is actually a dialect chain which stretches from southeastern California to Colorado. [Mithun (1999:542)] Individual dialects are Chemehuevi, which is in danger of extinction, Southern Paiute (of which San Juan and Kaibab are subdialects), and Ute proper.
