- Decker College
-
Decker College was a "proprietary" (investor-owned and for-profit) college located in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A. at 981 South Third Street. It closed in October 2005, following a disagreement with the United States Department of Education about accreditation of its construction-related courses and on-line instruction.[1] It reopened its doors in September 2009. According to former senator Alfonse D'Amato, William Weld, the ex governor of Massachusetts, was responsible:[2]
Mr. D'Amato said "Mr. Weld would have trouble explaining the "multimillion dollar looting" of Decker College in Kentucky, which collapsed in bankruptcy last fall after federal officials cut off student loan aid because of mismanagement concerns."
No Charges Filed
On June 10th, 2009 the Associated Press released news that the case against Decker College had been dropped, and no charges had been filed. Robert Keats, bankruptcy trustee for Decker College, disclosed the status of the investigation to a federal bankruptcy judge in a filing made public June 9th. "There are no indictments, no further investigation," he stated. According to the AP, U.S. Attorney spokeswoman Dawn Masden confirmed that the investigation was closed with no indictments.[3]
