Vinoviloth are one of the tribes in
Scandinavia mentioned byJordanes in "De origine actibusque Getarum" in the 6th century CE. [ [http://www.thelatinlibrary.com/iordanes1.html "De origine actibusque Getarum"] . See also [http://www.ucalgary.ca/~vandersp/Courses/texts/jordgeti.html English translation.] ] It has sometimes been speculated that they would have been the same as Kvens [See Svennung, J. "Jordanes und Scandia." Kritisch-exegetische Studien. Uppsala (1967).] orWinnili . [See Christie, Neil. "The Lombards: The Ancient Longobards" (The Peoples of Europe Series). ISBN 978-0631211976.] SometimesVingulmark is also mentioned. Jordanes writes:And there are beyond these the Eastern Geats (Ostrogothae),
Romerike (Raumarici),Ranrike (Aeragnaricii), and the most gentleSami people (Finni), milder than all the inhabitants ofScandinavia (Scandza). Like them are the Vinoviloth also.Besides "Getarum", the Vinoviloth are not mentioned anywhere else.
