LMU Ice Hockey

Loyola Marymount Ice Hockey is a club sport team playing competitive ice hockey in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, Division 2. Awards

2005-2006 - "Best New Club" award received at Loyola Marymount Crimson and Blue awards dinner2007-2008 -- "Best Organization" award received for being the top organization or club at Loyola Marymount- "Best Social Event" of the year. Received at Crimson and Blue Award dinner for the teams home opener vs. UCLA. The team set an attendance record at that game and ended up winning 8-4.

chedule

The team plays between 20-30 games a year and travels across the Western US many times a year to play other college teams. Some of the usual opponents of LMU Ice Hockey are USC, UCLA, Long Beach State, University of Washington, Pepperdine, Gonzaga, Santa Clara and other West Coast colleges. The season starts in September as part of the first semester of the year, and ends in February with the National Tournament.

LMU Hockey enjoys a good fan base from a school with 5,500 undergraduate students. The team is mainly funded by player dues, fundraising and sponsors. The team also receives some funding from LMU.

Coaches

LMU Ice Hockey has a great group of coaches enlisted with the success of the team. Dino Georgopoulos [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0313802/] , a producer originally from Hampshire, has been with the team for its existence. Coming on board next season will be Sean Goodman, a talent manager, played college hockey at the University of Connecticut and at Shattuck St. Mary's high school. He will bring his defensive knowledge to help the Lions move up in the ACHA ranks.
