- Guaracara River
The Guaracara River, located in south
Trinidad , runs westward out of the Central Range and drains into theGulf of Paria . It forms the boundary between the city of San Fernando (to the south) and theCouva-Tabaquite-Talparo Regional Corporation . In local terms it separatesMarabella (the northernmost portion of the city) fromPointe-à-Pierre .The
river is heavilypolluted , both by non-pointagricultural andresidential run-off from Marabella and the town ofGasparillo , and from industrial waste (primarily oily run-off) from theoil refinery at Pointe-a-Pierre owned byPetrotrin (the State-owned oil company).
