There were 1,218 housing units at an average density of 3 per square mile (1/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 99.52% White, 0.10% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.03% from other races, and 0.19% from two or more races. 0.10% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.There were 1,115 households out of which 34.40% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.40% were married couples living together, 3.70% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.90% were non-families. 21.70% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.60% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.82 and the average family size was 3.33.
