7 January 1953 ) is anIsrael i diplomat and former member of theKnesset .After studying International Relations at the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem , where he gained a BA, Savir worked as an administrator. He served as head of Israeli diplomacy in the critical years 1993-1996 when he was the Chief Negotiator of theOslo Accord s.In the 1999 elections he was elected to the
Knesset on the Centre Party's list. In March 2001 he left the Centre Party and was a member of the New Way faction for two days, before resigning on from the Knesset on 8 March. During his time in the Knesset he served on a number of committees, including the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.Savir is currently the President of the non-profit organization The
Glocal Forum . The Glocal Forum is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of international relations in pursuance of new balance between global and local forces in today's world. He is also a director of theShimon Peres Center For Peace.He has written one book, "The Process: 1,100 Days that Changed the Middle East" (1998).
