Jeremy Phillips

Prof. Jeremy John Phillips[1] (born December 25, 1951[2]) is a British[2] academic, author and commentator in intellectual property (IP) law.[3] He is reported to be "a respected IP academic" and "a well-known figure among IP lawyers."[3]

He was consultant at the law firm Slaughter and May until May 2007 and is working as a consultant at the law firm Olswang since June 1, 2007.[3][4][5] He is visiting professor at the Faculty of Laws of University College London (UCL), the Bournemouth Law School, Bournemouth University, and the University of Alicante.[6] He was professorial fellow at the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute from 2003 to 2006.[2]

He launched the Managing Intellectual Property magazine[3][4] and sold it to Euromoney Publications in 1991.[2] He also founded the magazines Patent World, Trademark World and Copyright World and cofounded the IPKat weblog.[3][4] He is also an active contributor to the new Afro-IP blog and the Class 46 blog on European Trade Mark law.[7] He is editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (JIPLP), European Trade Mark Reports and European Copyright and Design Reports journals. He is a council member of the Intellectual Property Institute.[8]
