Vince RogersTera Melos is a band from Roseville, California, that incorporates
experimental rock ,post-hardcore , ambient electronics and unconventional song structure all in one to create their original type of themath rock genre. They are currently a two-piece (formerly four), consisting of guitar and bass. In early 2007, Tera Melos went on tour withThe Fall of Troy ,Portugal. The Man , andDamiera . They plan to tour the western United States with Finch in January to February 2008, and will perform at the South By Southwest festival in March. [http://www.myspace.com/teramelos]Tera Melos play a brand of music characterized by quickly alternating time signatures, start-stop dynamics, two-handed tapping on the guitar, extended open-ended bridges, and the use of effect pedals and samplers. After releasing a four song demo, they were signed to
Springman Records , which released their self-titled debut full-length on October 4th, 2005. The album comprises eight tracks, and was re-issued in 2008 on Sargent House. While some of the tracks on the album feature distorted vocals that are somewhat undecipherable, guitarist Nick Reinhart started contributing more prominent vocals to the music with the release of their 2007 split withBy the End of Tonight , calledComplex Full of Phantoms .Right before they started recording their second EP "
Drugs to the Dear Youth ", one of the guitarists, Jeff Worms, left the band. On January 19th, 2007, Tera Melos released the LP on Sargent House. ‘Drugs’ for short, was a step away from the sort of post-hardcore sound they had before and farther into more progressive and math-rock regions.Tera Melos have over the past few years, developed a cult-like fan base around the United States and have recently gained some popularity in Japan, United Kingdom, and various other European countries.
Tera Melos announced on their myspace on April 2nd that drummer Vince would be leaving the band shortly after the tour with The Fall of Troy, The Dear Hunter and Foxy Shazam to pursue other things. The band currently still has a new album on the horizon and will be searching for a new drummer after Vince's departure. Vince left to pursue the career of a college math professor.
On their blog and Myspace, they stated that they have been playing with a new drummer named Dolphin Starbeam. Less than a month later, they said he was, "an illusion" and "are going on a quest to find a new drummer." They set up a list of requirements and an E-Mail address for those who want to try out for Tera Melos. A new member has yet to be chosen.
