NFL New York JetsDave Herman (September 3, 1941 in [Bryan, Ohio) is a former American collegiate and professional football offensive tackle. He played collegiately for Michigan State University and began his professional career with the American Football League's New York Jets, for whom he played from 1964 through 1969 and for the same team in the National Football League post-merger from 1970 through 1973.
1968 season
Next to right guard Randy Rasmussen, Herman started as the right offensive tackle for the victorious Jets in the AFL Championship Game of the AFL playoffs, 1968 over the Oakland Raiders and in Super Bowl III over the NFL champion Baltimore Colts. Against the Raiders, Herman played stoutly against the opposing left defensive end, Ike Lassiter, the team gaining 144 yards rushing and 256 net yards passing, much as he did in the Super Bowl against Bubba Smith, the team gaining 142 yards rushing and 195 net yards passing.
