Temecula Valley High School is a public
high school for grades 9-12 inTemecula, California . The school opened in 1983 as the community's first high school, along with Margarita Middle School and Temecula Elementary School. When it was built, it was a part of the Elsinore Union High School District (now theLake Elsinore Unified School District ) until theTemecula Valley Unified School District was founded. It is aCalifornia Distinguished School .In 2007 Temecula Valley had some 3200 students and 150 teachers and staff members. Roni Goyal is the current principal. The school's mascot is the Golden Bears, a take on the tradition handed down by the
University of California, Berkeley . In August 2007, Temecula Valley High opened a new multi-million dollar gym. Because of the underestimation of the price of concrete, the school's action to build a new performing arts theatre has been put on hold indefinetly. It has been said by teachers at the school "The current freshman's grandchildren would be lucky to see it built". "Newsweek " ranks Temecula as number 984 in its top 1000 schools in America.fact|date=February 2008 The school is one of the three high schools in the Temecula Valley Unified School District along with Chaparral and Great Oak High School.In February of 2008, the school held its first ceremony during the varsity basketball team's last season game vs. Chapparal for retiring jersey numbers for varsity basketball players Siaki Cravens (#55), who also played linebacker for the football team, and Matthew Rosser (#22), both of whom ranked in the top 50 basketball players in the state of California. Both players rank 1st and 2nd all time in points scored, field goal percentage and started games played. It was the school's first such ceremony and the only 2 numbers ever to be retired by the school. Both graduated in June of 2008.
Unfortunately, Temecula Valley High School has changed its decision of retiring Siaki's jersey, and #55 will be worn again. The principal noted, "Unfortunately, we made a mistake and we just want to correct things."
