Farmers Guardian

Farmers Guardian

"Farmers Guardian" is a weekly newspaper aimed at the British farming industry. It provides comprehensive and topical news with Livestock, Arable and Machinery sections; as well as business information and latest market prices.Based in Preston, Lancashire, it is currently owned by CMP Information, a division of United Business Media.

Originally called the "Preston Guardian", it was founded by Joseph Livesey, the ‘father’ of the total abstinence movement in Britain to support the campaign for the repeal of the Corn Laws. The first edition was printed on February 10, 1844, priced 4½d.

It was re-launched as "Farmers Guardian" on May 30, 1958, to cover the wider area of Lancashire, Cheshire and the Lake District. Today, however, it is sold nationally and publishes on a Friday.

Related products in the CMP stable include: "Dairy Farmer", "Dairy Vet" and the website farmersguardian.com [ [http://www.farmersguardian.com Farmers Guardian ] ] . The website was launched in May 2005, and includes sections on news, arable, livestock, machinery, equestrianism, reader offers and all classified adverts from the paper.
