John Wesley "Johnny Lam" Jones (born

Jones replaced an injured
Houston McTear on the U.S. team at theMontreal Olympics, and finished sixth in the100 meters . He also ran the second leg for the U.S. relay team, which won thegold medal .NFL career
Jones was drafted by the
New York Jets from the University of Texas with the second overall pick in the1980 NFL Draft . He playedwide receiver for the Jets from 1980-85. Since Jones was a world class sprinter, he could beat any coverage, but had trouble catching the football. He was viewed more as an athlete than a receiver.Post-NFL Career
Jones is now suffering with
myeloma cancer that affectsbone marrow in the legs.Lam took some extraordinary photos of the UT Tower after the National Championship game in January 2006. The University Co-op is selling these in Austin. All proceeds go back to Lam who is using the money to pay for his medications.
