Kribensis is the common name for a number of West African fish from the genus Pelvicachromis in the family Cichlidae cite web|url=http://www.fishbase.de/|title=Fishbase|author=Froese, R. and D. The name kribensis is normally associated with "Pelvicachromis pulcher", though it is also applied to "Pelvicachromis subocellatus" and "Pelvicachromis taeniatus". Kribesis are bottom dwellers and are very undemanding. They can be easily bred..

The females have round purple belly, especially when gravid. Males tend to be larger, with more pointed tips to the fins.
